salutethepoet asked: "NEOOO DUN DOO EEEET"
London was superb.
Hit comic-con all morning, swung by Topman for a cheeky game of “count the hipster”, watched the rugby* and finished it off with a meal. Cracking.
*shame about the score.

A series of "Avengers" themed shots I'm creating...
I’ve never actually done this, but I thought it would be fun. It’s all theoretical at this point, because I’m hoping that Grenadine and Blue Curacao will seperate rather than mix. Any bartenders/chemists that are able to confirm this, please do so!
I’m theming the shots around the Curacao because, well, the fewer spirits I have to actually buy, the better. And it keeps...

The "Road House" drinking game.
You will need:
4-8 friends
Six cans of lager each
A DVD of the seminal Patrick Swayze B-movie “Road House”
Livers of steel
The rules
Drink each time someone on-screen says the name “Dalton”
Drink each time glass is smashed
Drink each time someone thought Dalton would be bigger
Drink once for every roundhouse kick delivered onscreen
Drink once for each nipple...
Shoulder pain.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH.
Also, I’m browsing Blackest Night for the very first time. It’s a good event book so far, but I don’t think it beats the Sinestro Corps War. Not just yet, anyway.

Training was brutal.
The kickboxing grading’s on the seventeenth of March, so I’ve got a date to work towards. Happy with all the brown belt techniques, most of it is bog-standard karate stuff, but speed and endurance are going to be my chief enemies here. To the gym!
I've got some very, very nice looking books.
Decent, wonderful hardback copies that I want to keep pristine. But sometimes I want, nay, need a cheap paperback from Oxfam. With wavy bathwater pages. It’s got to be falling apart and full of scribbled notes, well-thumbed to the point that 40% of the ink resides on, well, your thumb. Somewhat unlike my comics, I need my books to look like I’ve read them.
I’ve got to go...
I'm so excited to start training in earnest.
My style of Karate, while giving me a very thorough grounding in the concepts of martial arts, never held tournaments; it was all working with body movements to provide a solid centre from which we could defend, both in traditional stance and more practical street stuff. The two were inextricably linked, and it did me a world of good not to worry about scoring points. Competitions and street stuff...
Paul Freeman, a.k.a Ivan Ooze from the Power...
also played Rene Belloq, Dr. Jones’ rival archaologist in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
Raiders starred Karen Allen, who was also in Animal House with… Kevin Bacon.
I had no idea “six degrees from Kevin Bacon” actually worked.

On "Before Watchmen"
DC have made an official announcement on the prequels. It would be redundant to list the full titles and creative teams when blogs like the excellent dcwomenkickingass have already done so, but I’ll pop my head ‘round the door and voice my opinion regardless.
My knee-jerk reaction was to head to Twitter in a fit of outrage, denouncing the project as another Phantom Menace (check here...

Excruciating game of poker with the boys.
As the last two of eight players, we finally called it a night and split the pot 50/50. Just won a crafty twenty quid!
…Bloody hell, I’ve got a new term of university tomorrow. Night.
Well, exams are over!
Just come back from a very nice night out with a few new friends. The fact that I’m sober enough to blog at this point is a mark of achievement alone. Now that these responsibilities are out the way, I have time to move on to other projects; namely extensive kickboxing training and increased productivity in my writing. Tally ho!
scruffylookingnerfherder:
I don’t think that Darth Vader has a single line in any of these films that isn’t perfect.
I think my personal favourite line is during the opening of ROTJ. The officer in charge is already nervous as Hell at having him aboard, we’ve seen how big a badass Vader can be once off Tarkin’s leash. Then he turns around and says “The Emperor is not as...
Revision continues.
Just a few more days. The process itself is mind-numbingly horrendous, but Shakespeare can be such a real pleasure to get into. It’s a genuine masochistic pleasure-pain dynamic. Let’s just hope I don’t start soliloquising into a ball-gag for kicks.
About to start reading Elfquest.
A cult classic, apparently, that I’ve never had time for before. Now that the film is officially canned, the creators have put every Elfquest comic online for free! This is all part of my search for great comics outside the Big Two. I’ll let you know how I feel a few issues in.
I'm well aware of how bad that previous joke was.
No shame.
